Saskia Design Works is an architectural design studio based in the Washington Metropolitan area. We focus on residential and light commercial projects.
Saskia was raised in the Netherlands and studied Architecture at the University of Oregon. After working for several firms in the Baltimore and DC area she has been in private practice since 1991.
Saskia has a modern sensibility which was formed in the Netherlands, and a deep understanding of the Historic context in which the homes in the DC area are steeped. She has lived in DC for over 2 decades and spent 8 years on the Board of Historic Mount Pleasant, where she helped business owners with storefront renovations and aided homeowners through the maze of Historic Preservation rules and guidelines.
Besides being involved in Architectural design for over two decades, she has been part of collaborative art projects in DC and Chile, and she also ran a Design Product company called Big Deal Design for 10 years that designed and produced table ware, furniture and a chess set.
